The Kuwait Attestation Process
UK Government guidance sets out the route for UK documents used in Kuwait: legalisation by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Legalisation Office, followed by the Kuwaiti Embassy in London. British embassies, high commissions and consulates cannot legalise documents, so the process has to be completed in the UK.
- Certification, where needed: documents such as powers of attorney, contracts, qualification certificates and copies of passports or driving licences must first be certified by a UK public official, such as a notary or solicitor.
- FCDO legalisation: the Legalisation Office legalises the document.
- Kuwaiti Embassy attestation: once the Legalisation Office has legalised your document, it is stamped at the Kuwaiti Embassy in London.
- Final approval in Kuwait, if required: documents may also need approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait. We advise on this when you contact us.

Q1: How to get UK documents legalised when I am already in Kuwait?
A: British embassies, high commissions and consulates cannot legalise or translate documents, so UK documents must be legalised in the UK. We can arrange this for you.
Q2: How to legalise UK documents for use in Kuwait?
